Enjoy a 5 day holiday to The Isle Of Man staying at the Rutland Hotel
4th 8th July
Steeped in myth and legend and fiercely proud of its diverse culture, the Kingdom of Man has an enchanting story to tell. Shrouded by mystery we visit the oldest parliament in the world! See how the crofters once lived at Cragneash Village keeping our eyes peeled for cats with no tails along the countryside trails. Two rail journeys showcase the best of the island as you sit back, relax and take in the beautiful coastal scenery. The tour is based at two of the Islands most group friendly hotels.
- Isle of Man Sailing Board the Isle of Man ferry from Heysham for the 3 ¾ hrs sailing to Douglas.
- Laxey & Snaefell Mountain Railway To the north lies the historic village of Laxey, home to the worlds largest working waterwheel called Isabella. Board the mountain railway at the Cottage up to Snaefell Peak, with time to take in the sweeping views of the island. Onto Ramsey, the islands 2nd largest town, with free time. Returning along part of the famous TT course passing landmarks of Kates Cottage, Keppel Gate and Windy Corner. (34 miles).
- Free Day in Douglas Douglas is a thriving coastal resort with plenty to see and do. The hotel is centrally located to enjoy the islands capital with a newly refurbished promenade and its Victorian Pier
- Steam train, Cregneash & Peel Hop on the IOM steam railway, with its original locos and carriages, for a 16 mile journey meandering through rolling countryside to Port Erin, where your coach will be waiting to take you to Cregneash. The first open air folk museum in the British Isles. A walk around reveals indigenous animal breeds and traditional farming practices. Afterwards, a scenic coastal drive visiting Port St Mary & Port Erin, before proceeding up the west coast to Peel, famous for its kippers, castle & sandy beach. Returning to Douglas along the TT circuit over Tynwald Hill passing the 1000 year old Manx Parliament, which is the oldest parliament in the world. (44 miles).
